I try - and mostly succeed - ha ha - to have a fun day EVERY DAY - I believe that's what life is about - making the best of one's situation and enjoying every moment we can. I love making people smile and laugh, and life has it's share of comical moments!

Now, that doesn't mean I see the world through rose colored glasses - there's plenty of ignorance, misunderstanding, hatred, and suffering all around us as well. We all know that - the question is - how can we be part of the solution instead of part of the problem? Personally, while I have no illusions about alleviating all of the suffering in the world overnight, I do believe that each one of us can contribute in some way toward positive change.

I'm telling you this just to give you an overview of my outlook on life. Of course this is a dating site, and my overall world view, (along with SOME of my interests listed above) - is not enough. With that in mind, let's get down to some specifics about the kind of woman I like.

I like a woman who is:

1. Friendly, intelligent, responsible, and adventurous.

2. Fun, with a very good sense of humor. Sometimes, fall on the floor humor is preferred, but any level of humor is good.

3. Someone who takes care of themselves - physically and mentally. That doesn't mean you have to have a barbie-doll body and advanced education - it just means you need to do your best with what you have.

4. Someone who likes to do new and different things.

5. Courteous and not self-centered.

On the other hand, I don't like a woman who is:

1. A racist. I just think racism is stupid - and so is judging people based on ethnicity etc. It's hateful and it symbolizes one's own insecurities. I understand it exists and is unfortunately very common - and if I got to know you and someone in your family made some disparaging statement - I'm not going to get all up in their face and tell them how much I'm offended - that would likely be pointless. Each situation is different and my response to each situation may be different - even though I certainly would not agree with them just to "smooth things over". Sometimes the best way to respond is by example. The main point is that I don't want YOU to be like that. :)

2. A barfly. I saw enough of those in my 20s. If that's what you're about, it's your life - just not what I'm looking for.

3. A Bible, Koran, or any other kind of thumper - I respect a diversity of religious views but I don't want to hear any quotes. As far as I'm concerned, the Bible and other religious books have both positive and negative things in them, and the reality is - if you're so into any religious book that you're going about quoting them to others - we'll just never get along.

4. A constant complainer - my time is way too valuable to spend it listening to complaints about everything. Everyone complains sometimes - but you know what I mean.

5. Obsessive or clingy - I'm not and I don't want someone who is.

I strongly believe happiness is found in the good relationships you have, the good things you do, and your overall attitude towards life.

I have dating listed, but ultimately I am seeking something long-term.

I'm lots of fun and good at many things, and I'll treat you right if you treat me right - but - just so you know - I don't allow anyone to walk all over me - I won't be anyone's doormat and I don't put up with any crap. That's not a warning, it's just a fact. I respect myself way too much for that.

I'm a down to earth guy. I like music and film. I really need to read more. I know that's cliche, but I have no excuse and a list of a hundred books I should read. I like to think of myself as well-rounded, however it's hard to avoid bias when judging yourself. I like fine food and wine, but I'm more suited to pizza and beer. I like live music in bars but I hate having to yell to talk to the person sitting right next to me. I HATE people who talk during the movie at the theater. Spring is definitely my favorite season. I hate money, but always wish I had more of it. I'm very interested in quantum mechanics and string theory but make no claim that I actually understand them. Facebook is fun, but I only have about 60 people in mine and I actually know most of them pretty well. Great fun if you want to talk to people you went to second grade with though.

I think we all have a lot to learn about life, and each other. It doesn't really help to get negative. I think we are in control of our own destiny. It really depends on the choices that you make. Of course no one is perfect. So the key is to surround yourself with good people and put yourself in the right situations. I'm passionate about being true to myself. God this thing is starting to sound goofy.

It's strange when you feel you are very enthusiastic about life, but relationships are sometimes difficult. It is hard to find someone that matches personality and tastes. If you do you are a very lucky and blessed person. I've decided that friends are probably more important than relationships, though I know deep down I'd like to be in a relationship. I guess that the first thing that comes to mind about myself is that I'm an average college student. Not much goes on in my life outside of work and school. When I'm not at either one of those places, I'm hanging out with my friends and trying to figure out the best way to keep myself entertained...living in a small town in southern Illinois can get really boring, especially when you consider pretty much everything closes down after 6pm. It means that we spend a lot of our time at either the one movie theater in town or at Denny's.

I'm pretty active physically; I do weightlifting in my spare time. I also belong to a stage combat group, where I learn how to use various midieval weapons which I later use in coreographed fights for shows.

I tend to be on the quiet side, but once people get to know me, they find that I've got a good sense of humor and that I'm pretty fun to be around. I'm also into sports, especially baseball (go Cardinals) and enjoy camping. I also like being able to sit down and read a good book or watch a movie. I also enjoy learning about new things and people.
